A new project is taking shape, after the efforts of" Nessun dorma "which should be reached (with fingers crossed) on the board of examiners yesterday, a sleepless night made me think of an interesting plot to develop a role-playing game, that is" life in dreams "(temporary title).
L ' idea is to allow players to empathize with the adventures that we all live during sleep, the initial ideas is to manage the characters in two sides, the first, say, tactical and managerial, is the player to manage the events during the conscious and can redeem points for creating your own alter ego in the dream. While the other side is pure role-playing game, with this part of the card players move into the realms of dream and play their adventures.
For example exploits the idea that interested me most. A character that in his waking life ago, the artist collects, working, reworking a lot of information that the brain during sleep. This makes the artist an "exploration of dreams" during the dream because his character during this part of the game will be forced to chase the inspiration hunting or new ideas thus expanding his knowledge of the dream world.
I do not know how it is for other game designers, but to me the ideas come in the form of images and styles that inspire me sticking around these gradually the background, the setting and regulation. This time the inspiration I received as many small sparks, The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, Little Nemo and a bit 'of Mirrormask, this is a good sign.
For the moment a project is more than a sketch, are still rather far from the objective but I'm pretty convinced that the idea could be interesting.
Inside the post
For those not familiar with Winsor McCay I posted a table of his praise enough "Little Nemo in Slumberland" (hoping not to infringe any copyrights!).
For those not familiar with "The Adventures of Baron Muchausen" advice to check out the film directed by former Monty Python Terry Gillian, who has caught my imagination as a child. http://it.youtube.com/watch?v=vuqBKiKycbA
Mirrormask is instead the film "designed" by the hand of Dave Mckean www.mckean-art.co . uk the artist who signed the cover of Sandman as well as some books of great value as "the comic tragedy or tragic comedy Mr.Punch" or "Arkham Asylum" to name only the first two that come to mind .
